A 70 year old man who was arrested in Famagusta for taking photographs of a military unit in Famagusta harbour, has admitted that he had taken the photos to give to a Greek Cypriot agent.
Mehmet Besimoğlu who was arrested on August 28, was remanded in custody for two days pending further investigation. It was discovered that he had taken 200 photos of Turkish soldiers on the island over the course of two weeks.
Telephone records on his mobile showed that he had made numerous calls to the Greek Cypriot agent.
Police who searched his home in the Famagusta district of Tuzla, found that Besimoğlu had a number of mobile phones, digital cameras and notebooks in his possession.
