Çatalköy Esentepe Mayor Ceyhun Kırok addressed the ongoing water issue in the country. He stressed the importance of conserving water during this period of limited resources, urging residents to avoid unnecessary water usage. “If we find that swimming pools are being filled with mains water, we will be compelled to take necessary punitive actions“, he warned.
Mayor Kırok’s statement included the following comments:
“Dear Residents,
“Today, we held a meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture with the participation of Agriculture Minister Hüseyin Çavuş Kelle, the TRNC Water Works Manager, the State Hydraulic Works Manager, the Mayor of Kyrenia, and the Mayor of LAÇ Municipality. During the meeting, we thoroughly assessed the water problem and focused on urgent measures that need to be implemented. The Minister of Agriculture assured us that he would bring this issue to the government to expedite short-term solutions and secure necessary assistance for municipalities.
“We, along with all relevant municipalities, are committed to doing our part and will continue our efforts. As Çatalköy – Esentepe Municipality, we are striving to supply water to areas where existing resources are insufficient. We understand the difficulties you are facing due to this problem and are working diligently to address it.
“In this period of limited water resources, I remind everyone to use water judiciously. Unnecessary water usage should be avoided. If we find that swimming pools are being filled with tap water, we will be forced to take punitive actions.
“We are working with government support and municipal efforts to resolve the water issue. Despite setbacks in our water well projects, which have been ongoing for three months, we continue to pursue these efforts with our own resources.
`’Wishing everyone a peaceful weekend”.
