The TRNC Assembly has lifted the legislative immunity of the National Unity Party (UBP) MP Huseyin Ozgurgun by a majority vote.
The result was as follows: 41 voted in favour and 2 voted against, seven MPs abstained.
In December 2017, the then opposition leader of the People’s Party (HP) Kudret Ozersay filed an application to the Assembly to launch an investigation into whether Huseyin Ozgurgun, then Prime Minister’s declaration of assets was the same or not since he came to office.
In a written statement, the HP asked the chief public prosecutor’s office to investigate whether Ozgurgun’s declaration of property corresponded or not to the one he submitted when he came to power and whether or not he had notified the Assembly if there was any change to his property assets, according to the declaration of property law.
