Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University has been beset by charges of issuing fake diplomas and money laundering.
Speaking on the Haber Toplantisi programme, hosted by Mert Özdağ, Chief Editor of Yeniduzen and journalist for the newspaper, Ertuğrul Senova, the issue was discussed, and Yeşilırmak contacted Özdağ, saying, “I see that you acted with bad intentions by putting this story on the front page”. He added, “I went to the police and gave the necessary explanation”. When asked about lifting his immunity, Yeşilırmak said, “My stance is the same as on the first day. I already told you that I won’t hide behind immunity. I don’t believe the file will contain any criminal evidence related to me. We will all see in time“.
In a separate broadcast, HP party leader Kudret Özersay claimed that Yeşilırmak did not actually give a statement to the police. Özersay also said the police investigation into Yeşilırmak had been completed and sent to the Attorney General’s office.
Yeşilırmak responded, saying: “In my seven years in politics, I have never been involved in corruption, bribery, misuse of public resources, or profiteering. I’ve always aimed to be fair, transparent, and accountable. These words might sound idealistic to you, but this is how I’ve arrived here as a young person in this country. I won’t fall because of attacks from people driven by political ambitions. When I see young people like you supporting this kind of talk and reporting, it makes me disgusted with politics. There’s no need for me to join your programme, you’ve already made the report you wanted. You can continue to smear me. Have a good day”.
