Chief Cyprus negotiator Kudret Özersay, after meeting with officials at the UN Good Offices has said that “There are issues that need to be clarified in terms of methodology and the essence of the several issues prior to the phase we are entering right after the Eid holiday. We discussed these issues with the UN officials.”
The UNSG’s Special Envoy Espen Barth Eide arrives in Cyprus on 7th October where intense negotiations are anticipated between the leaders and the negotiators and with Eide carrying out shuttle diplomacy between both sides.
During the last leaders’ meeting which took place on 17th September, both sides agreed on embarking on an intensified 3rd phase in the negotiations based on a “win-win” approach.
