The Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Fazilet Özdenefe (CTP), raised questions at the Assembly regarding the traffic accident that occurred on the Kyrenia bypass road yesterday, which resulted in the death of Mehmet Gürtunç (79) and raised allegations of “negligence“. The Government did not respond, stating, that the transport minister is not available.
Speaking at the podium, Özdenefe said, “I currently have two urgent requests. First is the Police General Directorate… There are serious allegations, and an immediate explanation should be provided. Have there been any complaints about traffic lights? Have any measures been taken in this regard? Or have there been no complaints at all? And Transport Minister Erhan Arıklı. He must provide an explanation immediately. The allegations are very serious“.
She emphasised that merit has been lost in technical institutions and said, “We lost a person in plain sight. What the Highways Department has done and what it will do should be shared with the public“, Özdenefe stated.
