Famagusta, Kyrenia, and Güzelyurt police departments conducted simultaneous public order and traffic inspections in their respective areas last night, Kibris Postasi reported.

According to the Police Press Office, between 20:00 and 24:00, inspections were carried out in entertainment venues, bars, nightclubs, and other crowded public spaces in Famagusta. One person residing illegally without a permit was arrested. In casinos, 16 people banned from entry were identified and legal action taken. Traffic checks resulted in 2,648 drivers being inspected, with 441 reported for various offences: 208 for speeding, 1 for driving under the influence, 46 for mobile phone use, 12 for not wearing a seatbelt, and 39 for driving without a driving licence. Additionally, 39 vehicles were banned from the road.

In Kyrenia, inspections covered similar venues, with 5 individuals arrested for residing illegally. Casinos inspections led to 25 people being identified for breaching entry bans. Traffic teams checked 890 drivers, issuing 222 reports for offences such as speeding (90), driving under the influence (10), lack of licence and insurance (4), and mobile phone use (7). Fourteen vehicles were removed from traffic, and one driver was arrested.

In Güzelyurt, no issues were found in the inspected venues. Traffic teams checked 522 drivers, reporting 94 for offences, including speeding (37), driving under the influence (1), lack of licence and insurance (2), and mobile phone use (8). Seven vehicles were banned from the road.
