Traffic Diversions Announced For Sunday

Police have announced that certain roads will be closed to traffic on Sunday, 10th November, for rehearsals ahead of the ceremony marking the 41st anniversary of the TRNC’s founding, which will be held on 15th November in Nicosia, BRTK reported.

According to a statement from the Police Press Office, from 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, the route between the Gönyeli Roundabout on Dr. Fazıl Küçük Boulevard and the Honda Traffic Lights Junction will be closed to traffic until the end of the ceremony rehearsal.

Traffic will be redirected as follows during the specified times:

  • Drivers heading to the Organised Industrial Zone can access it in a controlled manner from either the Altınbaş Petrol Traffic Lights Junction or the Atatürk Stadium Roundabout.
  • Drivers coming from Famagusta and travelling to Near East University Hospital should use the Nicosia Northern Ring Road and the Near East Boulevard.
  • Drivers coming from Famagusta and heading to Nicosia city centre should turn left at the Hamitköy Roundabout and follow Mimar Mehmet Vahip Street and Şht. İsmail Beyoğlu Street, or turn left at the Honda Traffic Lights and follow Şht. Mustafa Ahmet Ruso Street.
  • Drivers travelling from Famagusta to Güzelyurt should use either the Gönyeli Roundabout via the Nicosia Northern Ring Road or the Citröen Traffic Lights junction on Nicosia Mehmet Akif Street and continue on the Metehan-Alayköy Ring Road.
  • Drivers coming from Güzelyurt and heading towards Nicosia should use either the Alayköy-Metehan Ring Road or go via the Gönyeli Roundabout and Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu Street (State Hospital route).
  • For those coming from Kyrenia towards Nicosia, the Boğazköy-Dikmen road through the Nicosia Organised Industrial Zone via the Altınbaş Petrol Traffic Lights junction is accessible. Alternatively, those on the Kyrenia-Nicosia Main Road can use Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu Street (State Hospital route) from the Gönyeli Roundabout.

Drivers using these alternative routes are urged to drive slowly and carefully, avoid parking on the designated roads to prevent traffic obstruction, and follow all traffic signs and markers.
