A fire broke out in a vehicle travelling in the Ciklos area of the Nicosia-Kyrenia main road, Kibris Postasi reports.
While no injuries were reported in the incident, material damage occurred to the vehicle.
As the temperatures rise, so do the incidences of vehicle fires. Highlighting this crucial issue, the head of the Chamber of Mechanical Engineers, Ayer Yarkıner, stated that vehicle fires are preventable and issued several important warnings, Kibris Postasi wrote in an earlier report.
Yarkıner emphasised that most vehicle fires are caused by fuel or electrical leaks. He noted that poor maintenance and excessive wear can also contribute to these fires. “Vehicle fires often result from negligence and inadequate maintenance. Therefore, regular inspections should be conducted, and any detected faults should be promptly repaired”, he said.
He also explained that the increase in fires during the summer months is due to higher temperatures. “Fuel or electrical leaks can cause fires in both winter and summer“, Yarkıner said. “However, the rapid temperature rise in summer increases the risk of fire“.
