Improvements are to be made at the Lokmacı/Ledra Street crossing point in Nicosia. Minister for Tourism and Environment Ünal Üstel carried out an inspection of the pedestrian border crossing in the capital.
He said that bearing in mind the problems people are experiencing when entering and leaving the country via that border crossing point, they will be taking the necessary precautionary measures during the summer and winter seasons to overcome these issues.
The minister said that a modern wooden structure would be built to provide shade for people who are waiting for their border procedures to take place, He that work for this would begin in a week’s time.
“We will work hard so that all work is completed on this project prior to the bayram holiday”, said Üstel and added that they wanted people to be comfortable while entering or leaving the country.
He also said that the shortage of staff at crossing points will also be addressed soon.
Üstel said that a decision had been taken by the Council of Minister and that all problems will be overcome very soon.
