Negotiations for a framework for renewed Cyprus talks are not complete, President Mustafa Akinci has said. The president said that he had met with the UN Secretary-General’s special temporary advisor on Cyprus Jane Holl Lute almost every day, however, it would be better not to discuss the details of their talks to avoid prejudice.
They had intensive discussion on the framework, the president said, noting that he had informed all parliamentary party leaders on what had been achieved and what were stumbling blocks in their discussions. “This will be a new process. It will contain clarity and will not lead us to an endless unfocused process. Therefore the issue needs to be evaluated with more patience”, Akinci said.
