Drugs were seized as a result of the search carried out in the vehicle and house of Deniz Kaan Tongarlı, a drunk driver who had a traffic accident in Kyrenia, Kibris Postasi
Tongarlı attempted to pick up his car’s paperwork from the police. However, the police found marijuana in the glove compartment, leading to the his arrest and court appearance.
During the court session, a police officer explained that the suspect was brought to the police station because of a traffic accident in Kyrenia on a Sunday morning. The officer mentioned that two grams of marijuana were discovered in a cigarette packet among the documents in the car’s glove compartment.
Additionally, a search was conducted at the suspect’s home in Ozanköy between 03:50 and 04:10, where about one gram of what appeared to be marijuana was found on a table in the bedroom. This substance was taken as evidence.
The police officer stated that the investigation was in its early stages. They confiscated the suspect’s phone to check if there were any connections to the crime. Furthermore, the substances suspected to be drugs needed to be sent to the State Chemistry Laboratory for analysis.
Based on these details, the police requested that the suspect be held at the station for three days to aid the investigation. After considering the testimony, Senior Judge Cenkay İnan gave a three-day detention order for investigative purposes.
