Famagusta Municipality swiftly responded to the challenges posed by heavy rainfall impacting the entire city on Sunday. In an official statement released by the municipality, it was revealed that the intense downpour, beginning at noon on Sunday, led to issues concerning rainwater drainage in various parts of Famagusta, BRTK reported.

Taking proactive measures, municipal teams prioritised locations prone to rainwater accumulation on the streets. Key interventions were conducted at İsmet İnönü Boulevard, Gülseren Junction, Anafartalar Street, and Sema Hotel Circle to mitigate the effects of the rainfall.

In addition to clearing rainwater from the streets, the teams offered assistance to local residents encountering difficulties due to the adverse weather conditions.

Addressing the situation, Mayor Süleyman Uluçay emphasised the municipality’s commitment to tackling any challenges arising from the heavy rainfall. Uluçay reassured residents that the municipal teams would remain vigilant and responsive to any further issues that may arise.

Furthermore, Uluçay provided an update on the water supply situation in the city, noting the resolution of a malfunction in the Border-Famagusta line of the water network originating from Geçitköy. He announced continuous water supply to the city for 24 hours, albeit acknowledging delays in water reaching households situated in elevated areas. Uluçay expressed optimism that normal water flow throughout the city would be restored by the following day.
