A man who was arrested for the crimes of “trespassing” and “sexual assault” that occurred in Nicosia, appeared at court this morning, Kibris Postasi reported.
Police officer Sıla Topbaş presented the facts in court, stating that on Sunday, September 22, at around 2am, the suspect (A.M.), who lives in an apartment in Nicosia, entered the apartment of a 23-year-old female neighbour using a key that had been forgotten on the door. The police explained that after the suspect trespassed on the woman’s property, and sexually assaulted the woman who was in bed at the time.
The police noted that the woman filed a complaint on September 24 and that the suspect was arrested on the same day. The police officer stated that the suspect provided a confession during the investigation.
Noting that the suspect has been in the country with a work permit for 11 years, the police requested that he be remanded in custody for a period not exceeding 20 days.
Evaluating the testimony before her, Judge Nuray Necdet ordered the suspect to be remanded in custody for a period not exceeding 20 days.
